The NACTA is designed to assessed difficult situations and to confront heavily armed criminals; performing hostage rescue & armed counter-terrorism operations; high risk arrests & entering armored or barricaded buildings. In addition, it is mandated to devise a counter-terrorism strategy that should address short, medium & long-term goals & devise action plans for their implementation. NACTA was initially set up in 2009, but its power has been greatly increased in March 2013.
